Cloprostenol

Cloprostenol is a synthetic analog of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), primarily used in veterinary medicine as a potent luteolytic agent. Its core applications include inducing estrus synchronization in cattle, triggering parturition in swine, and treating reproductive disorders (e.g., persistent corpus luteum) in livestock. The (+)-5-cis isomer is the biologically active form, while the (+)-5-trans isomer is a minor impurity with 20-fold lower activity.
